The Gardener’s Code

The Gardener of the North · Book 2

Every system has a pattern. Some patterns change everything.

Twenty-year-old Ebuka Eze thought graduating from university would finally give him the freedom to build.

Instead, founding Divine Intel with Maya Kurup introduces a different kind of constraint. Their ideas now come with investors, employees, contracts, institutional obligations—and consequences. Meanwhile, the unexplained signal they once pulled from Arctic data still refuses to disappear.

As Ebuka and Maya struggle to turn La Vue into technology that can survive outside the laboratory, another experiment begins taking shape: the Ionic Dome, a protective system with one crippling limitation. It requires far more energy than they can practically supply.

Then the northern anomaly starts surviving every attempt to prove it wrong.

Years of testing lead Divine Intel into the Canadian High Arctic, where failed predictions, broken assumptions and evidence hidden inside what their models dismissed as noise force the team to reconsider what they have actually found. The phenomenon they call Azis may offer an entirely new way to produce energy.

But discovering that something is possible is very different from understanding what it is, who has a claim to it, or what should happen next.

The discovery transforms Ebuka from a gifted young engineer into something he never intended to become: a symbol. Governments want answers. Corporations want access. The public wants certainty that the science itself cannot yet provide. An old story about a “Gardener of the North” begins following him wherever he goes, even as Ebuka insists that no discovery belongs to one person.

Then La Vue begins finding connections its creators never taught it to look for.

What began as a problem of prediction becomes a problem of power. A system capable of seeing further into the consequences of human decisions may be extraordinarily useful, but usefulness does not settle who should control it. Ebuka and Maya must decide what responsibility belongs to the people who built such a system—and what authority does not.

At the same time, Future Footprint continues growing beyond the childhood friends who began it. Its successes expose another limit no algorithm can remove: technology can make better solutions possible, but it cannot make institutions choose them. Building a better system is different from earning the authority to change the one everyone already lives inside.

Now, the boy who once learned to work within rules must decide whether changing the future means continuing to build around the system—or finally stepping into it.

The Gardener’s Code is upmarket adult speculative fiction with solarpunk sensibilities—a story of scientific discovery, friendship, family, climate resilience, technological power, public responsibility, and the difficult boundary between influence and democratic authority.

The future is not shaped by what we can build alone. It is shaped by who gets to decide what we do with it.
